Hypnosis and cognitive-behavioral therapies are a powerful, proven combination


Hypnotherapy is all about collaboration and alliance - both the therapist and the client have their own important roles to play. As the therapist, I cannot "do" hypnotherapy "to" you. I'm here to bring my skills, knowledge, and experience to the sessions and guide you to reaching your goals. Your role as the client is to simply be completely honest and give your full cooperation. Throughout the process, we are working together.
It's always essential to have a quick phone conversation before sessions begin. There is no charge for having this chat, I simply aim to get an idea of your current situation and goals, and to give you an idea of how I work, to make sure what I do matches what you are looking for. As every session is tailored to each client, this initial conversation is important. I can answer any of your questions and perhaps give you an idea of how long treatment generally is for what we are discussing. We'll then book in your first session.



FIRST SESSION
The first session is a getting-to-know-you session and typically lasts around an hour and a half. We'll discuss your situation, complete consultation forms with personal details, conduct any necessary evaluations for certain cases (insomnia, phobias, stress, etc.), go over your medical history, get information about any ongoing treatments or medications, and do a brief chronology of your life and its events. This allows us to put together a treatment plan and discuss the best options for you, and I can give you a more certain idea of how many sessions I think will be needed.
SUBSEQUENT REGULAR SESSIONS
Right from the beginning, you are active in the therapeutic process and we will always refer back to your first assessments to chart your progress. The number of sessions gets settled on a case-by-case basis. In any event, I practice brief therapies, so it could be as few as one or two, or could go as far as ten, all depending on your own situation and progress; it is rare that more than ten sessions are needed. Appointments are usually scheduled weekly with tasks for you to do between sessions to help speed your progress along.
CONCLUSION
When the agreed-upon goals are met we will discuss your tools to prevent relapse, wrap things up, and conclude.
